Founded in 1981 with a commission from the Waldorf=Astoria, Kenneth E. Hurd & Associates, Inc. meets the needs of the most discriminating clients. With a background and emphasis on hospitality, we offer a full range of design services from master planning and interior architectural design to creating custom-designed carpets, furniture and lighting. Whether commissioned to create traditional or contemporary interiors, our studio is dedicated to imbuing each project with a distinct flavor and an individuality that enhances the guest experience. The foundation of our success stems from a marriage of thorough research of a hotel’s place in the community with a clear understanding of our clients’ business goals so we can transform their dreams into physical reality. We then measure our success not by photographs but by whether or not we capture the imagination of a hotel’s clientele, enticing them to return time and again.
Over the past three decades, the firm has worked for well-known clients, and its award-winning projects have often been published in the national media. Recognized as a leader in the hospitality industry, Mr. Hurd has been the recipient of numerous honors including the Platinum Circle Award for Lifetime Achievement from Hospitality Design as well as both the Chairman’s Award and the Lucy G. Moses Award from the New York Landmarks Conservancy. As leader of the design team, his extensive knowledge is evident in each commission, and his vision to tailor each project to reflect the history and culture of a locale permeates the design process from inception to opening.
